Mama to Max
I'm Sarah. I'm a 43-year-old single mom to baby boy Max born October 2017, and a full-time freelance marketer. Before the baby, I had no interest or knowledge of what it takes to raise a child. Zero. Zip. Nada.
If motherhood isn't overwhelming already, child care options are truly overwhelming to me. I have been working since three weeks postpartum and quickly realized traditional day care does not work for someone like me. I don't just work Monday to Friday, eight to five. My schedule is unpredictable in many ways depending on the client or project.
In addition to small business owners like myself, I realized other demographics are also underserved by mainstream childcare options: hospitality professionals, healthcare providers, single parents... we all need a village to help raise our children.
If something doesn't exist, can we create it?
I believe in entrepreneurial spirit and the power of community.
I have a lot of trust in a parent's desire to provide the best for his/her child. I think we can create a village that supports a thriving environment for our children by providing much needed support for us parents. MamaTribe Children's Center is going to be just that. Parent-focused support, child-focused care.
Where do we go from here? I'm going to organize a team of likeminded dreamers and doers, do the homework about regulations and find investors who will help us build MamaTribe. You can help by staying engaged, spreading the word and letting us know what would make MamaTribe a success. Please subscribe to our mail list, and don't hesitate to drop me a line.
